Thank you for your comment.

Worth doing

Our guide Mark did a lot of explaining, so we knew what to expect.. The blue grotto is worth seeing with a little boat and the market was very nice to see. We had enough time to see both of the attractions.

Blue grotto was a photo stop , for 15 minutes as the coach pulled in and we all got out to take photos....together with several other coaches !!!The market was just a market , extremely busy and you couldn't get a coffee or beer as the cafes would only serve you if you were eating lunch.

Overall, this tour was abysmal from...

Daniel C,

Feb. 2018

Overall, this tour was abysmal from the start, beginning with being picked up from our hotel in Valletta and being dropped on a street corner in St. Julians and told another bus would be by shortly. That bus did not arrive for a full hour after we were dropped off. There was no accountability taken as to who was getting on the bus, which caused chaos for the rest of the day. The tour guide made no attempt to sort it out, and the driver, who was the most aggressive and discourteous bus driver I have ever met more to follow became frustrated with people trying to sort out who was and was not supposed to be on that tour and on that bus. Leaving for the fishing village we already knew that the boats through the blue grotto were not running, but instead of building in extra time at the grotto overlook, we were hurried through there to take pictures along with three other tour buses. This meant that when we got to the village where the boats depart the grotto we had forty minutes to see the village which consisted of three cafes, an overpriced souvenir shop and a shop selling shells. There was also an overlook f the sea, but far less spectacular than the view at the grotto. the majority of the tour group was waiting in the parking lot by the bus after only 15 minutes however, the driver who said he would leave it open decided to lock it up and come back right at departure time. The problem was that in the mean time the company dropped off another 10 people to join the tour and the van that brought them departed. Unfortunately, both buses were full. The driver started yelling at passengers to take a seat even though their seat were taken by new arrivals. He then kicked the new arrivals off the bus, even though they were accompanied by infants. The tour guide then stepped in and asked us to squeeze together to fit 3 in a seat that could barely fit 2. From there we got to the fishing village running every stop sign and 3 red lights along the way with 3 very near misses with traffic. At the village we were told to get off the bus and rally at 1315 at which point we would be separated by whether we were going to the airport, Valeletta/St Julians or further north. The village was fine, but on return to the bus everyone was placed on the same bus, including people that weren't on our tour or with the tour company. We departed the village at 1310, five minutes ahead of schedule, which I learned later meant we left at least one couple behind when I saw them in my hotel lobby later on. The driver then took us on a road rage infused return where he used his horn freely to signal he was not slowing down at intersections with stop signs, and cursing out load when he almost hit a garbage truck and a small white car in a traffic circle. He then began dropping people off randomly blocks away from their destination. He dropped a family with 2 infants in the middle of a traffic circle for the air port, about 5 blocks away. He dropped a group of seniors with canes about a five minute walk from their hotel, when they said they had no idea where they were or where they were going he said a five minute walk and shut the door. When a group in the back of the bus, also seniors missed him call out the hotel they were staying at, and they questioned him, he said it is already past, they asked him to return, and he opened the door and said this is now your stop. He literally passed right by Valletta which 12 of us were staying to go to the north, this meant what should have been a 15 minute bus ride turned into an hour and 20 minutes. Overall, this experience was the worst tour I have ever had. The Company, Supreme Travel was nothing but rude, unprofessional, and arrogant. If Malta's economy is built chiefly on tourism, someone needs to tell this company they are ruining the Malta experience for tourist. I took 2 tours from the company and an airport transfer. All were abysmal. I cancelled my airport travel the last day from them.

This is a half day tour. We couldn't sail to the Blue Grotto as the sea was too rough but saw it from above. The market we found disappointing and just too crowded. Note that the restaurants don't like you to just have a drink at lunch. Marsaxlokk is pretty, especially the boats and the church but there are just too many visitors on market day to really appreciate it.

Because we were staying in old town...

Susan R,

Juli 2017

Because we were staying in old town Valletta, we had to walk 15-min to another hotel for pickup. After about 20 hotel stops over the next hour, we wished they had a central pickup point in the other towns too. The small boats at the Blue Grotto are an additional 8 per person for a 20 minute ride around the rocks. The blue was more visible in pictures than in person. Not as dramatic as the Blue Grotto in Capri, Italy. There was only enough time in Marsaxlokk to browse through the market because it was so crowded. We would have liked more time to have lunch at one of the many seafood cafes around the harbor. Worth a visit but go on your own to fully enjoy a meal there.

The weather didn't allow for the actual visit to the blue grotto, but you could see it from above. The market was very crowded and it wasn't very interesting to me, we were left there for too long, with nothing to do but walk around the market, no such tour since nothing was explained at the fishing village. At most it would take an hour to walk around and then get back on the bus. Gozo is a much better option if you're going to do a tour in the Malta area.

Garry_P,

Apr. 2017

The Blue Grotto visit was subject to weather conditions it was windy and the boats were not running. This was obviously not the fault of the tour operator but without visiting the 'highlight' and only getting the opportunity to glimpse at it from above, it was not an experience I could rate highly. Marsaxlokk market is huge and there is so much to see I didn't find we had enough time there. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant.

Don't know why the boat trip at the Blue Grotto wasn't included and the difference added to the price of the tour. Also would've liked it turned into a day tour so that nearby ancient temples Mnajdra and Hagar Qim could be included as well. Overall though, the market was enjoyable with plenty of time to fully explore, plus the Blue Grotto up close was amazing.

Jennifer_R,

Take public bus instead! Price does not include grotto boat ride (€8 pp) and the guide didn't give much info about Malta along the way. You're basically paying for bus rides, which you can do much cheaper on the reliable public bus system. We left the tour in Marsaxlokk to explore on our own.
